Transportation
Transportation pushed the Industrial Revolution onward, because all the finished products, raw materials, food, and people needed a quick and reliable system of transportation.

Canals
The first use of canals was to have horses pull large amounts of goods down rivers and across the nation. Using canals was easier on the horse and so it could pull a lot more than if it were hauling a cart. “Canal construction served as a model for the organization and methods later used to construct the railways.” (wikipedia)

Steam Engine
Robert Fulton was the first American to construct a steam engine. His engine was used for steamboats through out all of the United States. Steamboats were helpful, because they became the fastest way of traveling in the United States. Robert is known for his paddle steamboat, Clermont.
