Agriculture

The beginning of the Industrial revolution was ideas that farmers came up with to gain more land or improve the amount of crop they could harvest. They used the manure of livestock for fertilizer. Some farmers used the idea of crop rotation to preserve the soil for the next years to come.

Also around this time Jethro Tull invented the seed drill to place the seeds in rows rather than aimlessly throw them around. This also helped the amount of crops they could grow by making it organized. He also invented the Horse hoe to make hoeing easier by having a horse or mules do the physical work of pulling it through the field.

In the mid nineteenth century John Fowler invented a system for steam engine plow. It was a single stationary engine at the corner of the field that used winches and pulleys to pull the plow across the field. He also thought of two engines with a cable connecting them pulling the plow back and forth down the field.
